Digital Practice Lead
Job Summary:
Will fulfil a crucial technical and leadership role responsible for the successful implementation, management, and continuous improvement via training of Architectural design and documentation software tools – From the MS Office suite to the latest developments in AI image iterations.
Development of processes would be centred on Aedas’s adoption of REVIT and Autodesk’s ACC as our core project documentation and collaboration tool. This would be supported by understanding and tailoring a range of supporting supplementary software tools from front end design exploration tools to scheduling and specification writing platforms.
The Digital Practice Lead’s role is a hands-on position requiring a blend of strategic planning, detailed technical expertise and an inclusive and collaborative approach to development of personnel to allow project teams to collaborate with other consultants and effectively deliver projects.
Crucially, the role requires the applicant to understand the balance between contractual Project Delivery milestones and pragmatic approach to software utilisation. Delivering coordinated design documentation to our contract obligations is prime.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting, Accountability & Leadership
The Digital Practice Lead would report directly to the Aedas Executive Management team. They would be expected to support and collaborate directly with the Aedas Management Board and project leads (Principals and Senior Associates).
The Digital Practice Lead would be responsible for alignment, mediation and consolidating feedback across the BIM Managers and wider office team.
Technical Proficiency
Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk REVIT is mandatory. Extensive, hands-on experience in Architectural or Engineering consultancies is required across the digital workflow including:
- BIM: Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, REVIZTO, BIM 360/ACC.
- Computational Design: Rhino/Grasshopper, Dynamo (Revit) and foundational scripting.
- Visualization & Media: Real-time rendering and visualisation software.
- Documentation Review Tools: i.e. Bluebeam Revu for PDF markup and document management.
- Documentation Standards: In reference to Singapore & International Architectural Standards.
- Sustainability and Analysis: To explore or be aware of software tools that quantify sustainable solutions.
- Future Tech & Strategy: Knowledge of AI/Generative Design tools, VR/AR workflows and analytical tools would be beneficial.
BIM Strategy and Standard Development
- Develop, maintain and enforce the firm's BIM standards, protocols, templates and best practices in alignment with industry standards and project requirements.
- Define the long-term vision and strategic roadmap for BIM implementation, exploring new technologies (i.e. generative design, VR/AR, cloud collaboration) to enhance project delivery efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with Aedas’ project leads and BIM Managers to establish project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage and update the Aedas content library (families, objects, materials) to ensure quality, consistency and adherence to established standards.
Hands-on Technical Management and Project Support
• Act as the go-to technical expert for all BIM-related software (i.e., Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Navisworks) and workflows, providing direct, hands-on support to BIM Managers and project teams.
• Oversee the setup and maintenance of project models, ensuring optimal performance, file health and data integrity.
• Perform model auditing and support clash detection processes (using tools like Navisworks & REVIZTO) to ensure interdisciplinary coordination and compliance with the BEP. Review workflows to ensure consistency across the office so that projects are delivered efficiently.
• Support BIM Managers in troubleshooting complex BIM issues, develop solutions and address project-specific technical challenges as they arise. Maintain a lessons learnt log and share with the wider office on a regular basis
• Assist project teams with complex modelling tasks, detailing and data extraction from BIM models (i.e., quantity take-offs, scheduling, i.e. 4D/5D etc)
Training, Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing
- Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the office.
- Develop, document and deliver effective and inclusive training programs, workshops and one-on-one mentorship sessions for staff at all levels, from junior to senior colleagues.
- Actively support BIM Managers in demonstrating software functionality and sharing technical tips to elevate the overall proficiency of the firm.
- Document lessons learned and create internal training materials, guides and workflows to ensure institutional knowledge capture.
- Report Quarterly to the Aedas SG Management team on software evolution, training and skills development and areas to improve.
- Be open minded and analytical of alternative processes and approaches, sharing insights into the pros and cons of new or alternative workflows.
Key Competencies & Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience utilizing BIM software in an architectural design firm, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership capacity.
- Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit is mandatory. Strong knowledge of related tools (i.e., Dynamo, Navisworks, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud).
- Demonstrated ability to be both a strategic thinker and a detailed, hands-on practitioner. A proven track record of inclusivity, and effective mentorship.
- A collaborative professional with a team-oriented approach, sharing knowledge and resources
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical staff and external consultants.
- Certification such as Autodesk Certified Professional or industry-recognized BIM credentials.
- Experience with other modelling or computational design software (i.e., Grasshopper/Rhino, Python scripting).
